 Small Japanese stamps with gold background and red bead – Japanese stamps, issued for National Letter-Writing Day in 2012. This image is from the poetry anthology, Hyakunin Isshu, of work from the 10th-13th centuries. The anthology showcased the work of one hundred poets, each contributing one poem. It was compiled by Fujiwara no Teika while he lived in the Ogura district of Kyoto. Fujiwara no Teika produced the calligraphy sheets to decorate the screens of a family member’s house. The card game Uta-garuda uses a deck of these cards. Trimmed in antique Czech glass.
